She also rises while it is yet night, And provides food for her household, And a portion for her maidservants. Proverbs 31:15

Let’s just say she gets up early! 🙂 Later in this chapter it says, ‘her light does not go out at night’. Hmm… when did she sleep? Let’s remember this is the potential mother in law making this list. Much of it is good advice, but some might be a little impractical. Let’s check into the meanings of the words.

Rises – literally to get up, but it doesn’t say to wake up or to rise from a bed. To stand, One meaning is to cause to rise so perhaps she is the one to wake up the household to get going. I’m not at all sure – if you know, I’d love your input.

while it is yet night – she gets up before daylight. Boy, I’m just not finding anything insightful here!

provides – or gives. This is a verb, so it’s referring to the actual action of giving food to her household.

household – a place or house as containing a family

a portion – statute, ordinance, limit, something prescribed, due (I’m stumped)

maidens – girl, damsel, female servant

Well, I have to be honest. This verse isn’t doing much for me. Are you seeing something I’m not?
