She girds herself with strength, And strengthens her arms. (NKJV)
She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. (KJV)
At first glance it looks like she goes to the gym. But of course, there were no gyms at that time, and all anyone had to do to stay in shape and be strong was to work every day.
girdeth her loins -from an unused root meaning to be slender; properly, the waist or small of the back;
with strength -strength in various applications (force, security, majesty, praise):—boldness, loud, might, power, strength, strong.
“She is slender but strong”? What are you getting from this?
strengthens -a primitive root; to be alert, physically (on foot) or mentally (in courage):—confirm, be courageous (of good courage, steadfastly minded, strong, stronger), establish, fortify, harden, increase, prevail, strengthen (self), make strong (obstinate, speed).
her arms the arm (as stretched out), figuratively, force:—arm, help, mighty, power, shoulder, strength.
This verse is hard for me to understand. Sometimes I get a little whiff of understanding, but then it is gone. What do you think?
