Have you sStEtienne1een the pictures of abandoned castles and grand homes on Pinterest?

I have questions about them. Some pictures look Photoshopped. There isn’t a window broken or any architectural details taken. It just seems to me that if they were truly abandoned, there would be quite a bit of vandalism.

I looked at some abandoned properties on Pinterest. I did further research online to find the context of these photos. Not enough research to write a thesis, but enough to come to the conclusion they probably are abandoned.

Let’s look at a few. This first one, St-Etienne-le-Vieux is a church mostly destroyed in WWII. So much of it is intact, why hasn’t France saved the beautiful frescoes and window’s? You see what you think.

I think they are marvelous and wondrous pictures. I find them all the time on Pinterest. While they may be abandoned, they still have beauty. And they tell a story. Who was the person who walked away? Who lived there once upon a time? Did children play on that staircase? Why is there a little tiny sink under that splendid round window? How do these pictures make you feel?

  1. I so wish those walls could talk. Wouldn’t it be wonderful?? That is the first thing I think of when I see an old building or house….the lives those people lived….were they happy…did they love…
