I’m just going to say it – out loud and blunt. If you have children, it’s important to raise them yourself. Your children need you. No one is going to be able to teach them your values and beliefs, or hold them for as long as they want to be held or keep track of the fact that they like broccoli but not brownies.
I’m aware of situations where it is a must that you work outside the home. I’m not talking to you. 🙂 You’re already doing what God has called you to do and He will take care of your children.
If you are putting your children in day care so you can afford that boat, or a snowmobile for everyone in the family, or luxury vacations, I pray that you would rethink that decision. Children need their parents, not a snowmobile. A baby needs Mama – the smell of her, the sound of her voice and the familiar touch of her hands. This could also be Daddy taking care of the children while Mama works. A baby, a child deserves to be raised by someone who loves them to the moon and back. No one who makes minimum wage and is taking care of 12 other children (just picked a number out of the air, I don’t actually know how many child per caretaker are allowed) at the same time can invest in your child’s emotional needs.
I say all that to say, there are ways to earn extra money while staying at home with your children. When my kids were at home, and during their school years I did all kinds of things to make money. I babysat, I sewed for people, I did craft shows, I took in ironing and mending. There is always something you can do that someone else is willing to pay for. Our Proverbs 31 woman found the ways to earn extra money for her household by dabbling in some real estate and agricultural pursuits. In the next few verses, we’ll find out what else she does.
Not sure what you could do to earn money? Here is a valuable resource – Skillshare. I’ve been a member for almost a year. I’ve taken so many classes there, just for fun, but there are also lots and lots of classes designed to help you learn something and then start making some money on it. Normally it’s $10 a month, which is not a bad price. But because I’m a member I can offer you a deal! Who doesn’t love a deal? 🙂
By following this link SKILLSHARE you can get 1 month of full access for NOTHING! No money. Free. I have to be upfront and tell you, if you do this, I will receive a free month also. So this is what I suggest – go visit Skillshare via the purple link above and see if there are any classes that interest you. If there is, leave, closing your browser window. Now go back via the red link and sign up for your free month. And take advantage of it! This is an investment in your children.
Making money won’t happen overnight. But if you stick to it and keep practicing and studying your craft – it will pay off.
Please pray about your child care/working situation. Don’t take my word for it.
Have a great weekend!
